Brand of HERO (B.O.H.)
is an alternative/hard rock band out of Orange County, CA. The
band won the Best Hard Rock Band category at the 2004 Orange County
Music Awards. B.O.H.'s music is an original repertoire of sophisticated
alternative rock songs with a modern energy of hard rock. The music
style of B.O.H. is a mix of influences from rock, grunge, blues, alternative,
and modern rock with a message like Jars of Clay, Switchfoot and Life
House. Fans say B.O.H. reminds them of bands like Collective Soul to
Smashing Pumpkins and Life House, STP to Oasis. B.O.H. was originally
formed in 1996 and has independently released and marketed two EP/CDs,
RIPPLEaffect (2004) and Project N (1999) and getting ready
to release their full fledge CD some time next year. At the request
of fans and industry, we have prereleased IMPACTO 2 this past
year for marketing and promotional purposes in hopes to represent a
taste of what's to come in our upcoming full CD release version.
Winners of "Best
Hard Rock Band" 2004 at the OCMAs
(Orange County Music Awards), the band has recieved more opportunities
in main stream, and Christian arenas of the music industry.
B.O.H. won the '04 Orange County Music Awards Best Hard Rock category
for their song RIPPLEaffect.
Their vision is about communicating a message of Love, Mercy, and Grace
in a different tone, through their own form of hard rock music. Art's
belief and purpose of the existence of the band, in Art's own words
"is not simply about fame, popularity, or money . . . it's about getting
an optimistic message across to others through the music and the lyrics
we present, in this day and age", as well as doing music that a wide
audience would love and enjoy. Also, the most important thing Art wanted
to do is to do what he loves most and that is playing and singing, in
an alternative-rock band that would share his faith to the audience.
"We believe we're a rock band first, with the gift
of music, to make a difference in both main-stream and Christian arenas
alike" , lead vocalist for B.O.H. said.
The
band is comprised of Art Anthony (rhythm
guitars, vocals), who happens to be the veteran of the band, new drummer
Christian John Healy (CJ) and bassist Jeremy Lucas, with Joey Heshion
(lead guitar), old time friend, rounding off the band. The band members
consider themselves to be a "rock band" with a positive message of their
faith. Their music range is phenomenal along with their talent to perform
on stage. The band has played at places like The House of Blues, The
Coach House, The Viper Room, The Knitting Factory, The Whisky a Go Go
and Galaxy Theatre opening for bands such as The Kry, Kevin Martin and
the Hiwatts (Voice of Candlebox), The Outline, LA Guns, The Romantics,
to doing ministry benefit concerts at local churches opening for Jeremy
Camp, or an indie like Pound Foolish, Union of Saints to playing festivals
like Portico (TOMfest) and sharing stages with Emery, Showbread, Rock
& Roll Worship Circus, Joy Electric and others. The band crosses all
types of stereotype barriers to create what they feel is their own form
of cross-over rock, alternative rock and hard rock. Other recognized
national acts B.O.H. has opened for includes: Winger, LA Guns, Foghat,
Joe Lynn Turner (from Rainbow and Deep Purple), The BulletBoys, Vanilla
Fudge, Colin Hay (from Men at Work), Michael Sweet (from Stryper), Tommy
TuTone, along with well known local artist, such as Union of Saints,
Plumbline, Pax217, East West, Mudbath, Nevada Sky, Silent Noise, Apulse,
Scarlet Crush, Makeshift 3 and others.
B.O.H.
is in the midst of working on new material for their full-fledge CD,
which will be released sometime in 2010. The band is looking to make
this album its best with 9 new songs and 3 re-releases. Three of the
songs were pre-released as the EP/CD "IMPACTO 2" in 2008. The three
songs: Believe, Palms Over and Simple Song have been getting some great
interest, via Internet play and radio, such as OCRockRadio.com, ZFM
(Australia), iSPINIT radio (Rock 001), PODONOVER, INTROradio, and other
stations. "This next album will be more along the lines of Audioslave
meets Lit meets Nirvana, that's if you want to compare," said Art, lead
vocalist. Although B.o.H. gets inspiration from other bands, they have
a unique sound all their own. "B.O.H.'s next album project 'Title to
be announced at a later time', is sure to make a big impact, "because
we will put our souls and hearts into each song and on the line for
this one . . . We can't wait for it to be completely done", said Art.
In the EP/CD "RIPPLEaffect", two of the songs, RIPPLEaffect and Carry,
were independently released in June 2003, along with a hidden track
GIVER, as the CD single RIPPLEaffect for radio play. The song RIPPLEaffect
received great reviews from friends and fans and was selected to be
on a couple of compilation CDs the previous year, which included Musician
Institute's (MI) 2004 compilation CD (Hollywood). In addition, B.O.H.
won the '04 Orange County Music Awards 'Best Hard Rock' category for
their song RIPPLEaffect.
B.O.H.
attained some radio play on 95.9 FM, The FISH, on the Fresh
Fish Friday program with the song, GIVER, which received some good reviews
and support for radio play. Lastly, B.O.H.'s first independently released
EP/CD "Project N" (released in November 1999) is a mix
of alternative rock with some hints of underlying classic rock blues.
It is a high energy expression of electric and acoustical guitar chord
rhythms with strong edgy guitar leads backed by U2 sounding bass riffs
and a definite alternative drum and percussion beat. Each song on the
album bears its own feeling and emphasis with the vocals exploding with
bold lyrics and dynamic verses that rock, and choruses that engage the
soul and mind with its warm harmonies.

B.O.H.'s purpose is to communicate a positive message of their faith,
they want to maintain a rock solid alternative-hard rock sound, that
is both distinctly soul searching and straightforward (keeping Jesus
in the mix) without breaking the morality bank.
